The crown on the implant
A lost tooth is a pain for many people. The reasons may be different, sometimes we lose a tooth as a result of an accident, accident, neglect or health problems. Each time, however, it is not only a medical problem, but also an aesthetic one. Not having a tooth is embarrassing, causes greater self-control, which can be troublesome. We are ashamed to smile, it happens that we withdraw from the social life, we stop “being”. We are uncomfortable and afraid of the reaction of the environment. Such a problem should be solved as soon as possible. One of the most efficient ways to recover a lost tooth is to put a crown on an implant.
Prosthetic crowns are used to rebuild teeth whose condition makes it impossible to place subsequent fillings (fillings). Such a filling is permanently fixed by the doctor when the natural tooth crown is destroyed as a result of caries, injury causing tooth fracture or after root canal treatment. Their aim is to improve the appearance and restore the function of the tooth.
Crowns on the implant are classified in different ways due to:
– the degree to which they interfere with the reconstruction of the tooth (partial, protective, total),
– their structure, which affects the way the tooth is ground, when we want to put on a prosthetic restoration (stepped, non-emergence),
– position in relation to the gums (subgingival, gingival, supragingival, supragingival),
– the material of which they were made (uniform crowns: metal, ceramic, acrylic, composite crowns – made of several types of materials).
Tooth crowns are available in many types. In prosthetic offices you can choose from porcelain, all-ceramic, metal, zirconium, flexible, and composite models. Crowns for ceramic and porcelain teeth can be easily adapted to the natural shade of other natural teeth.
A tooth crown guarantees that a properly secured tooth will not be subject to further destruction. The aesthetics of this form of restoration is much better than when filling with even the best materials.
When considering the use of a crown for teeth, one should consider what is expected of it. For front teeth, zirconium or porcelain crowns should be considered, while lateral teeth can be reconstructed, for example, on a metal base. It should also be remembered that the price of crowns for teeth varies depending on the material they are made of. Undoubtedly, this has an impact on patients’ decisions. It is also worth remembering to take proper care of oral hygiene, which makes it possible to use crowns for teeth for many years without the need to replace them.
